About MREC NedMec+
The Medical Research Ethics Committee (MREC) NedMec+ is a METC accredited by the Central Committee on Research Involving Human Subjects (CCMO), to which the Amsterdam UMC, the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, the Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology, and UMC Utrecht are affiliated.
METC NedMec+ is authorized, as an independent administrative body (ZBO), to make decisions that are binding on citizens.

General chair
Prof. em. dr. Joop van Gerven has been the general chair of METC NedMec+ since 1 July 2026
Vice-Chairs
METC NedMec+ has the following vice-chairs:

Chamber meetings
METC NedMec+ carries out its work in chambers. There are two chamber meetings per week in which dossiers are reviewed. In addition to the vice-chairs, the following individuals serve as chamber chair:
- Dr. Jan Paul de Boer
- Dr. Bianca Goemans
- Dr. Roderick Venekamp
- Dr. Niels Vermeer
Committee members
METC NedMec+ is composed of committee members from various disciplines. Through mutual consultation, they reach a well-considered decision. In addition, the committee has a number of advisors at its disposal.

Secretariat
METC NedMec+ is supported in its work by a professional team of administrative staff, secretaries, procedure coordinators, official secretaries, and pre-assessors.
Regulations and Complaints Procedure
METC NedMec+ has drawn up its regulations in accordance with the CCMO model. The complaints procedure is also included in the regulations.
